Frequently Asked Questions

Small paragraph here

Question 1 - here we can add drop down menu for each question which will show the answer

Many consumer units do not comply with today’s regulations and could potentially be very dangerous for you, your family, or whoever occupies the property in the event that there is a fault. Modern day consumer units come with Residual Current Devices (RCD's) which in the event of a fault would cut power to the associated circuit(s) within milliseconds (fast, right?).

Older fuse boards do not have RCD protection and therefore would take much longer to cut the power to the circuit in the event there was a fault, in this case it could be the difference between surviving the shock or not. Today's regulations also require new consumer units installed to be made of a non combustible material, i.e metal and many of the older style fuse boards are made from either plastic or even wood!

If you have an older style fuse board and are contemplating getting it upgraded, we would highly suggest you do so for the safety of everyone who may occupy the property.

Why us?

  • We are full qualified to the latest BS7671 Electrical Wiring Regulations 18th edition and hold City and Guilds 2391 in Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations. So rest assured we will test and issue the relevant Electrical Installation Certificate upon completion of every consumer unit upgrade.

  • We only install Type A RCD's as standard, this is due to modern day technology (computers, laptops, televisions) causing a build up of DC earth leakage, this may cause nuisance tripping where the power suddenly shuts off at random intervals in your home/business, which is very inconvenient.

  • We only install metal-clad 18th edition consumer units as standard.

  • We are NICEIC Approved Contractors giving you the peace of mind that all our works carried out are covered by the NICEIC 6 Year Platinum Promise.

  • Our pricing is very competitive.
