Tripping circuits, dead sockets, flickering lights, burning smells — we find the cause methodically, explain it clearly, and fix it properly. Same-day attendance available across the metro.
A tripping circuit breaker, a dead socket, a flickering light — these aren't inconveniences to ignore. They're symptoms of a real problem: a wiring fault, an overloaded circuit, a failing component, or in some cases a genuine safety hazard. Left alone, most electrical faults get worse.
We diagnose faults systematically — using the same dead and live testing methodology as an EICR — until we've identified the root cause. You get a clear explanation of what's wrong and what it costs to fix. No guesswork, no parts replaced on spec.
Tripping circuit breakers — identifying the circuit and the cause
Dead sockets or switches — finding the break or fault in the circuit
Flickering or intermittent lighting — tracking down loose connections or failing components
Burning smells or scorch marks — urgent fault diagnosis and safe isolation

We don't guess at faults. We test methodically until we've found the root cause — then we fix it.

We test circuits methodically — isolating sections, testing insulation resistance, and tracking the fault to its source. No guesswork, no parts replaced without diagnosis first.

The same testing methodology used in an EICR — applied specifically to suspect circuits to identify insulation breakdown, continuity failures, or earth faults.

We inspect the consumer unit for signs of overheating, loose connections, underrated protective devices, or damage that may be causing or contributing to the fault.

Individual socket and switch testing using a loop impedance tester — confirming polarity, earth continuity, and loop impedance on each outlet.

Tracing flickering, dead, or intermittently failing light circuits — from the consumer unit through to each fitting — to identify the break, loose connection, or failing component.

You receive a written report detailing the fault found, its cause, and the recommended remedial action — with a fixed price for the repair if you choose to proceed.
We work around you: All commercial work can be scheduled for evenings, weekends, or planned shutdowns to minimise disruption to your business. Speak to us when you enquire and we'll build a programme that works.
If any of these sound familiar, book a fault finding visit — we'll identify the cause and tell you exactly what it takes to fix it.
Usually caused by a faulty appliance, an overloaded circuit, or a wiring fault causing a partial short or insulation breakdown. We identify which, so you know what actually needs fixing.
A single dead socket could be a wired-in spur that's come loose. A whole dead circuit usually means a break in the ring, a failed connection at the consumer unit, or a tripped breaker that won't reset.
Often caused by a loose connection at the rose, a failing LED driver, or a loose neutral at the consumer unit. It can also indicate a more serious wiring deterioration issue — worth investigating.
A burning smell from an outlet is always a warning sign — loose connections, overloaded socket, or failing wiring insulation. It should be investigated immediately, not ignored.
An RCD that trips repeatedly without an obvious cause is detecting a current leakage to earth somewhere on the protected circuits. We identify which circuit and which appliance or fitting is responsible.
A dead zone — a room, a floor, or a group of circuits — is usually caused by a tripped or failed breaker, a blown fuse, or a cable fault. We find the cause quickly and restore power safely.
Electrical fault finding is a diagnostic process — not guesswork. We work systematically through the affected circuits until we've isolated the cause. Here's exactly how we approach it.
Out-of-hours working available: We can schedule all or part of commercial work for evenings and weekends to minimise disruption to your operations.

Tell us what's happening — when it started, which circuits are affected, and any other symptoms. This helps us come prepared with the right test equipment.

We test the affected circuits methodically — dead and live — starting at the consumer unit and working outward through each circuit until the fault is isolated.

We show you exactly what we've found, explain the cause in plain language, and confirm whether it's safe to continue using the affected circuit.

We give you a fixed price to repair the fault. In most cases, we carry the parts to fix common faults on the same visit. You receive a Minor Works Certificate on completion.
Don't just take our word for it.
We attend fault finding visits across London, Essex and Kent — often same day. Fixed price for diagnosis, and we carry parts for the most common repairs so we can often fix it the same visit.
We aim to attend fault finding visits the same day or next day in most cases. If you have an urgent fault — burning smell, sparking, or a circuit that won't stay on — call us directly and we'll prioritise attendance.
Most faults are located within 1–2 hours. Some intermittent or complex faults may take longer — particularly if the fault only occurs under specific conditions. We'll give you an honest update as we go.
Intermittent faults can be genuinely difficult to locate. If we can't isolate the fault on the first visit, we'll explain exactly what we've tested, what we've ruled out, and what the next diagnostic steps are — before you commit to further visits.
In most cases, yes. We carry parts for the most common fault repairs — new sockets, FCUs, connections, and replacement MCBs. If the repair requires parts we don't have on the van, we'll book a return visit to complete it.
Repeated tripping is usually caused by one of three things: a faulty appliance drawing too much current, an overloaded circuit, or a wiring fault causing a current leakage or short circuit. We'll identify which — and which specific appliance or cable is responsible.
You can reset a tripped breaker to restore power temporarily — but if it keeps tripping, there is a reason. Repeatedly resetting a breaker without finding the cause risks allowing a genuine fault to go undiagnosed. If a breaker trips more than once in a short period, call us.
We charge a fixed-price fault finding visit fee, which covers our time on site and all testing. If you choose to proceed with the repair, the visit fee is deducted from the repair cost. We'll confirm the current visit fee when you book.
