Electricians for older London homes. Houses, flats and conversions.

Walthamstow and Hackney are full of Victorian and Edwardian houses, and many have been split into flats or extended over the years. In homes like these the wiring has often been added to bit by bit, and the fuse board can be older than it looks. We test what's there, tell you plainly what's safe and what isn't, and quote only for the work you need.

Whether you own a house, rent out a flat or look after a whole conversion, you get the same thing from us: a free quote, NICEIC approved work and the right certificate at the end. Here's what you can expect.

Common questions from Walthamstow & Hackney

Do you cover all of Walthamstow and Hackney?

Yes. We work across Walthamstow, Chingford, Highams Park, Clapton, Hackney Central, Dalston, Homerton, Hackney Wick and Stoke Newington, and in nearby Leyton and Leytonstone. If you're not sure we cover your street, give us a call.

I'm a landlord. How often do I need an EICR?

In England, private landlords need an EICR at least every five years, and must give a copy to existing tenants and to new tenants before they move in. You may also be asked for one when applying for a council property licence. We carry out the inspection, explain the results and can fix anything that needs it.

Do you work in flats and conversions?

Yes. Much of the housing in Walthamstow and Hackney is flats, from Victorian conversions to newer blocks, and we work in all of them. If your building has a managing agent or freeholder, we're happy to work with them on access and paperwork.

Should I rewire before a loft conversion or extension?

If your wiring is old, it's usually the best time, because walls and floors are already open. We'll test what's there and tell you whether a full rewire, a partial rewire or just a new consumer unit is the right call.

How quickly can you come out?

We aim to attend fault finding visits the same day or next day in most cases. For bigger jobs, we'll book the free quote visit at a time that suits you. For anything urgent, such as a burning smell or sparking, call us directly.

Are you NICEIC approved?

Yes. Volt are an NICEIC Approved Contractor and Part P registered, so notifiable work is certified and registered with building control for you.
